Audra Carter Elected to Friends' Board!

Monday June 23rd, 2008 - 6:15PM

The Friends of the Community Maritime Park elected Audra Carter a member of the Board of Trustees, Friday 20, 2008.

Ms. Carter owns AC Advertising and is a "charter member" of the roll-call supporting the Community Maritime Park (CMP) from its inception. During the referendum campaign, Ms. Carter facilitated communications with the city's minority voters, and promoted the historic Covenant with the Community that created a commitment to include minority contractors in the building process. The institutionalization of The Contractors Academy as a permanent educational facility is one of her first-tier goals.

Ms. Carter's other public projects include her "Bridging the Gap" dialog concept for opening lines of communications between all ethnic groups. She created the "Bridging the Gap" TV interview program for WUWF TV-4, and the radio interview version aired for 10 years on WRNE AM-980. She now appears as a guest co-host on the news-interview program "Your Turn" that airs Thursdays from 4 - 6 PM on WEBY AM-1330. In her inaugural program debut, Ms. Carter interviewed former Mississippi Gov. Mabus, and Amazon.com number 3 ranked pre-release best-seller US Rep. Wexler. Both appeared to voice their support for the presidential candidacy of Sen. Barack Obama.

Ms. Carter will be an asset to Friends for her decades-long experience with marketing in general, and with marketing to the black community in particular.
